These artists and companies were under no obligation to allow their lyrics to be reprinted in Retirement, and likely will profit little from their inclusion, but they were generous enough to permit their use nonetheless. No endorsement of Retirement should be inferred from their graciousness. If your music collection does not contain every one of these songs, the author strongly suggests you take immediate steps to fill in the gaps, as each is a classic in its own right.

Readers with a keen eye for detail might notice a couple songs listed above that you have never heard before, and those would be the two written by Mark Daniel Curley himself.

“Silent Fuse” was penned just days after the author’s best friend fell to his death on the eve of what would have been his 22nd birthday.

“Backyard War” was written not so much as an antiwar song, but more as a prayer for peace in a world that sorely needs it. Hopefully, someone of weight will hear it soon.

Sheet music for Mr. Curley’s songs will be available in the near future from this Web site.
